Python/FastAPI Coach: Help Me Apply My Existing Code (Healthcare App)

Project Description

I already have starter code for a Hospice Eligibility & Narrative App (Python/FastAPI). The app is designed to:

Upload referral documents (PDFs/images).

Extract data using OCR.

Apply Medicare/Medicaid hospice eligibility rules.

Generate CTI physician narratives and discipline-specific narratives (RN, SW, Chaplain, Aide) from checklist questions.

I am not a developer and need a freelancer to teach me step-by-step how to:

Install Python and set up a virtual environment.

Run the FastAPI app locally and test endpoints via Swagger.

Configure OCR for scanned PDFs/images.

Deploy the app to the cloud (AWS/Azure or similar) with HTTPS.

Edit checklists, rules, and templates safely without breaking the app.

Maintain basic data safety and HIPAA-aware workflows.

This is a teaching-focused role, not a full development job. I want someone patient who can explain clearly, guide me through the process, and provide short documentation I can reuse later.

Deliverables

3–5 live coaching sessions (screen-share).

Working local setup on my computer.

Simple cloud deployment I can manage myself.

Quick reference guide (step-by-step commands + screenshots).

Ideal Candidate

Strong in Python, FastAPI, OCR, and basic cloud deployment.

Experience mentoring beginners.

Healthcare/HIPAA knowledge is a plus.
