Waterproof Silicone Robotic Barber Clipper Design

Job ID: 39977709

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m bringing a new professional-grade hair clipper to market and need an industrial designer who can translate the concept into a manufacturable product. The clipper will be used all day by barbers, so it must feel solid in the hand, survive constant sanitation, and—most critically—remain fully waterproof without sacrificing performance.

Core requirements
• Form factor and ergonomics that suit long, repetitive use in barbershops
• A sealed housing and internal layout that achieves true waterproofing (IPX-rated or equivalent), while still allowing easy cleaning and blade changes
• Styling that instantly signals “premium professional tool” rather than consumer gadget

Nice-to-have considerations (you may propose how to incorporate them): cordless power modules, quick-swap adjustable blades, or other ideas that improve shop efficiency without compromising the waterproof spec.

Deliverables I need to see
1. Concept sketches exploring at least two distinct directions
2. Finalized 3D CAD files ready for prototyping (STEP/IGES)
3. Exploded assembly + BOM with recommended materials, tolerances, and waterproofing methods
4. Renders that visually communicate surface finishes and interface details

Approval criteria: The design must meet the waterproof requirement, pass a basic ergonomics review with real barbers, and be structured for injection-molded production.

I’m ready to review your portfolio and jump straight into ideation, so let’s create the clipper barbers will actually brag about.
