Industrial Designer Needed to Develop Premium Sculptural Serving Tongs (Organic / Nature-Inspired)
Project Overview
I am a private chef and content creator developing a premium line of serving utensils, starting with a pair of sculptural serving tongs.
This product is intended to combine high-end aesthetic design with true functional performance, inspired by organic natural forms such as shells and leaves. The goal is to create a distinctive, elegant object suitable for premium dining and hosting environments, while maintaining the grip performance of professional kitchen tongs.
This is not a generic kitchen utensil — this is a design-led product that must feel refined, intentional, and manufacturable.
Design Direction
The tongs should incorporate the following principles:
• One-piece or integrated spring mechanism (or sculptural spring solution)
• Nature-inspired gripping tips (shell or leaf inspired)
• Organic, flowing silhouette
• Elegant and minimal aesthetic suitable for premium dining settings
• Strong, precise grip functionality comparable to kitchen tongs
• Comfortable to use one-handed
Spring solutions I am exploring include:
• Integrated spring spine (single-piece tension)
• Sculptural torsion spring integrated as a design feature
• Split-spine or ribbon spring designs
The spring should ideally be part of the visual identity of the product.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Experience with stainless steel product design
