Industrial Designer for Custom Product Development
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I am developing a custom physical product and need an Industrial Designer based in Shenzhen for a 2.5-week hybrid project ($1,000 fixed budget). I have a partner handling the internal mechanics and final Design for Manufacturing (DFM). Your role is strictly to design the external enclosure and act as a local guide when I arrive.
Scope & Milestones:
Week 1 (Remote - Concept): I will provide the 3D dimensional constraints. You will provide moodboards and 2D sketches to finalize the external aesthetic.
Week 2 (Remote - CAD): Translate the chosen sketch into a 3D surface model (Rhino, SolidWorks, etc.) built around my constraints. Deliver final .STEP files and basic renders.
Week 3 (In-Person - Guide): Spend 1 full day (8 hours) with me in Shenzhen navigating prototyping shops, sourcing materials, and acting as a local manufacturing translator/guide.
Requirements:
Must be physically based in Shenzhen.
Strong background in industrial product design and 3D CAD modeling.
Familiarity with the local Shenzhen prototyping and manufacturing ecosystem.
Fluent or highly conversational English.
