Project Based Learning in English Lessons

The steps for project based learning are as follows.

1. Determine the basic questions

Before entering the material, the teacher must provide basic questions related to the material to be studied. The question can

start with pictures or videos related to the material. Based on the pictures and videos provided, they can ask questions.

2. Develop a project planning design

The preparation of the project design is collaborative. In this case it is hoped that there will be cooperation between teachers and students. It can contain several things such as rules of the game, activities, and presentations.

3. Make a schedule of activities

After the teacher and students have prepared a project planning design, it is continued by making an activity schedule. An example of an activity schedule is as follows.

Define a new plan to complete the project

Provide guidance for students who use methods outside of predetermined projects.

4. Monitor the development of student performance

As long as students work on assigned projects, teachers must actively monitor their activities. The teacher must record it in the assessment rubric or record during the process. The goal is to keep the learning atmosphere conducive. Monitoring activities can be done using a tape recorder or rubric.

5. Test the results of student performance

The level of achievement of students in completing their assigned projects will be tested and assessed by the teacher. This assessment is expected to provide feedback for students' understanding. Performance results can also be used by teachers to develop strategies for further learning.

6. Evaluate experience

Experience evaluation is a reflection of the activities that have been carried out. At this stage the teacher can carry out light discussions with students regarding experiences while working on the project.
