Interior book designer needed — Christian teen non-fiction, challenge format
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I'm looking for a designer with a strong typographic eye and illustrative ability to create concept spreads for a faith-based action book for teen girls. The book contains 52 challenges, each following a consistent multi-section template.
The scope of this job:
• I required two distinct design concepts showing how a single challenge could be treated — same content, two different visual directions.
• Design will need to be flexible to accommodate different length challenges, although all challenges will need to fit on four pages (2 spreads).
Design considerations:
• This book needs to work on two levels simultaneously — it has to feel genuinely made for a 15-year-old girl, and it has to be beautiful enough to give as a gift. Think less "teen workbook," more "the kind of book you'd want to own and keep."
• The style should be modern, fresh, and typography-led — clean and considered, with real beauty in the details.
• The aesthetic should feel elevated without being adult — something a teenage girl would find on her shelf and feel proud to have there.
• Avoid anything crafty, journally, or devotional in feel. No watercolour florals, no hand-lettered headings.
• I can provide the cover design as a reference point.
Project specs:
• 6" × 9" trim per page, grayscale interior (KDP print-on-demand)
• Each challenge spans 4 pages (2 spreads) and contains 7–8 named sections plus a stamp-style completion marker with date and signature lines
• Five custom icons to be designed as part of this brief (same icons can be used on each concepts)
• Please use only Adobe fonts. No subscription-only or embedded-only fonts.
• Sample content provided on acceptance.
Deliverables: InDesign source files for both concepts.
Note: There is potential for further design concepts to be commissioned beyond this initial brief.
