Children’s Book Cover Designer Needed
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m preparing a new line of children’s books and need a creative partner who can turn real-life photographs into engaging, kid-friendly covers while also polishing the accompanying copy inside and out. The assignment revolves around book covers only, but I’d like the same eye that designs the front, spine, and back to give the final manuscripts a light editorial pass for tone, consistency, and spotless grammar.
For each title you will transform supplied photos—or source comparable royalty-free images—into a vibrant, photorealistic layout that speaks to young readers and their parents. Expect to handle color correction, playful typography, and age-appropriate visual cues, then deliver both print-ready (PDF/X-1a) and digital (RGB JPEG/PNG) versions that meet standard KDP and IngramSpark specifications.
While you’re refining the cover copy, I’ll ask you to scan the manuscript for lingering typos, layout glitches, or style inconsistencies so everything launches flawlessly together. Adobe InDesign and Photoshop are my preferred tools; layered files must be included in the final hand-off so we can tweak future editions.
Acceptance criteria:
• Final cover: front, back, spine, bleed lines, and barcode space to printer specs
• High-resolution eBook cover (2560 px height minimum)
• Proofread manuscript returned in tracked-changes Word document
• All working files (INDD/PSD) plus fonts and linked images
If you enjoy blending photographic realism with playful storytelling and can back it up with clean editorial skills, I’d love to see your portfolio and discuss our first title right away.
