Book Layout & Formatting for Amazon KDP (Print + eBook)

I am looking for an experienced book designer to handle layout and formatting of a non-fiction home-brewing book for publication on Amazon KDP, both as paperback and Kindle eBook. Text and images will be provided.

The book contains both standard text chapters and recipe sections, so clear structure and good typography are important.

I have a manuscript that contains primarily text and photos with captions for each chapter, and I’m ready to publish it on Amazon KDP in both paperback and Kindle formats. I need someone to take the raw Word file plus the supplied high-resolution images and transform them into:

• A print-ready PDF set to 6 × 9 inches with proper margins, bleed, and embedded fonts.
• A reflowable Kindle file (EPUB or KPF) that mirrors the print layout where possible and remains fully responsive on different Kindle devices.

The overall look should be professional and formal—clean chapter openers, consistent heading hierarchy, polished typography, page numbers, running headers/footers, and an interactive table of contents in the eBook. All images must be optimized to 300 dpi for print and appropriately compressed for Kindle without visible quality loss.

I will provide:
– Final manuscript in Word format
– Up to 50 images with captions
– Front and back matter copy (acknowledgements etc.)

I’m looking for detailed formatting rather than a quick template drop-in, so feel free to suggest subtle design touches (for instance, small-caps chapter numbers or unobtrusive rule lines) that reinforce the formal tone without becoming decorative. Once complete, I’d like:

1. The print PDF ready for direct upload to KDP.
2. The validated EPUB/KPF file plus any source files (InDesign, Affinity Publisher, or your preferred tool) so future updates are easy.
3. A short hand-off note outlining fonts used, image placement rules, and any special styles you created.

Requirements:
Proven experience formatting books for KDP (print + eBook)
Familiarity with image placement, chapter structure and consistent style
Final delivery in:
Print-ready PDF (according to KDP specs)
eBook-ready EPUB or KPF
Ability to advise on fonts, margins, spacing and readability
