Amazon KDP Manuscript Formatting
Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
I have a completed non-fiction manuscript that now needs professional interior formatting so it can be uploaded to Amazon KDP in both Kindle e-book and 6 × 9 inch paperback editions. The text itself is finished; what I need is a clean, industry-standard layout that flows perfectly on Kindle devices and looks polished in print.
Here are the essentials I must see in the final files:
• Front matter that opens with the copyright page, followed by a short dedication, an acknowledgements section, and a foreword page.
• A fully linked, Kindle-friendly table of contents and a separate back-of-book index for the paperback PDF.
• Consistent heading hierarchy, widows & orphans control, accurate page numbering, and properly embedded fonts.
• Chapters formatted to start on new pages for a cleaner look.
• Two deliverables: a validated EPUB (or KPF) for Kindle and a print-ready PDF set to KDP’s 6 × 9 trim, with correct bleed and margin settings.
Additionally, the project requires a final proofread to ensure the manuscript is polished before publishing.
I’m open to layout suggestions—whether you favor InDesign, Vellum, Atticus, or a proven Word-to-PDF workflow is up to you, as long as the output passes Amazon’s previewer without flags. Once the files are approved, please provide source files as well so I can tweak future editions.
If you have recent examples of non-fiction interiors on KDP, that will help me decide quickly.
