Image processing - compare two images

In garments cutting in industry we use a pattern marker. All components pattern are technically arranged to maximise efficiency of cutting. Suppose a fabric length has hole defect. Then a picture of fabric compared to the actual pattern marker should identify the component that would fall in hols Area.
