I need an Adobe Illustrator expert

My girlfriends grandpa just passed away so this will be the first holiday season without both grandparents now. Her grandpa made this wooden Santa and I wanted to recreate it with one solid piece with both the grandpa and grandma on it. I found two photos of them separately that I really liked so I attempted a rough sketch (ignore the mustache) to give an idea. I’m having trouble, especially the faces, and I forgot to add the scarf as well, but that is key. I will be using a laser cutter to cut out a vector image on wood and engrave it using a raster image. I’ll be making 3 so they should be big enough to fit 3 on an 8x22 inch art board in Illustrator. The vector line will have to be a 0.001 pt outline of the silhouette saved as an SVG. And then the illustration can be saved as a PNG. Also, there needs to be a rectangle at the bottom like I included so I can attach the wooden legs like the Santa.
