Scientific Illustrations for a book
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
Hi! My name is Phil Plait and I'm an astronomer and author. I'm writing a professionally published public-level science book about what it looks like to actually be at the places we see through telescopes, and I'm in the preliminary stage of looking for an illustrator. I need about 10 - 15 diagrams to make some of the concepts easier for the reader to picture.
Some are simple line diagrams, and others can be a little more detailed — for example, seeing the rings of Saturn from a dirigible floating in Saturn's atmosphere.
These need to be high-resolution (300 DPI TIFF or uncompressed JPG) black-and-white drawings, and I will provide a sketch as best as I can do with a description, including a relevant quote from the book to help guide the art.
My deadline to deliver this is June 1, 2022 (the book is nearly completely written).
Thank you!
