I am seeking a talented illustrator and book formatting specialist to bring my collection of poems and accompanying sketches to life in a beautifully designed book. This project involves both creating illustrations that complement the poems, and redrawing the sketches, as well as formatting the entire book for a cohesive and visually appealing reading experience.
The book contains 70 pages. The sketches are simple, black and white drawings and serve as a visual element alongside the poetry. Ideally, I'd like to see the drawings redrawn, in a similar style, but more refined and potentially interwoven into the text. And I'd like some artistic layout employed to make the book flow better and be more visually appealing.
Project Requirements:
We are looking for a professional who can:
Illustrate select poems: Create original illustrations that enhance the meaning and emotional impact of the chosen poems. The style of illustration should be cartoonish in nature, and caricature. Also, to redraw the current illustrations into your style so everything matches. The current sketches should be viewed as guides, and not traces. If you believe you can add on, improve, or wholly redraw the sketches to better fit the poems, I encourage that.
Format the entire book: Design the layout of the book, including typography for the poems and any accompanying text, placement of illustrations and sketches, margins, headers/footers (if desired), and overall page design. The goal is a clean, elegant, and engaging reading experience.
Prepare files for print: Ensure the final book files are properly formatted and ready for printing (e.g., high-resolution PDFs with bleed and crop marks, if necessary).
Deliverables:
Formatted interior book layout incorporating poems, sketches, and illustrations.
Print-ready PDF files of the complete book.
