Illustrator Smart Objects

We are working on the product configurator project and need to create a svg file. Looking for an Illustrator expert who can handle "smart objects" that repeats the same design multiple times in single illustrator file. Would love a feature like smart object in PSD that we can edit once and effect all versions in the file. Thank you!
