Creative Signage/ Wayfinding Design for Community
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
Signage & Wayfinding Designer — Mixed-Use Residential Community (Dubai, UAE)
We are an engineering consultancy leading the design of a large mixed-use townhouse community in Dubai (approx. 530,000 sqm), organised around a central green spine with a mosque, community centre, sports facilities, parks, and townhouse clusters. We're looking for an experienced freelancer to develop the signage and wayfinding design from concept through to fabrication-ready documentation.
Scope of work
Concept design: wayfinding strategy and analysis (circulation, decision points, districting), sign-type schedule, graphic conventions, and design direction options for our selection.
Schematic design: developed sign family, signage location plan, sign schedule, bilingual (Arabic/English) message schedule, materials/finishes/illumination, prototypes/visualisations and indicative costs.
Detailed design & specification: fabrication-level drawings (plans, sections, elevations, mounting/foundation details), full sign and message schedules, technical specifications, quantities and cost estimate for tender.
(Optional) tender and construction support: shop-drawing review, sample approvals, site inspections.
You must have
A portfolio of built signage/wayfinding projects — please show schematic and detail drawings, not just concept renders.
Experience designing to RTA (traffic/regulatory) and Dubai Civil Defence (statutory/safety) standards; UAE/GCC project experience strongly preferred.
Strong Arabic + English bilingual typography and message handling.
Proficiency in AutoCAD plus InDesign/Illustrator; ability to deliver editable DWG, PDF, and graphics files.
Willingness to coordinate with our civil/traffic, landscape, and MEP teams, and to work under our engineering and authority sign-off.
Nice to have
Experience in residential / master-planned communities.
Cost-estimating and tender-support experience.
Please include in your proposal
2–3 relevant built projects with your specific role.
A short note on your UAE authority experience (RTA / Civil Defence / Municipality).
Your approach to Arabic/English bilingual design.
A stage-wise quote (concept / schematic/detailed design, with any optional support) and your availability.
Confirmation of software and deliverable formats.
Notes
Engineering, stamping and authority submissions are handled by us as the consultant of record; you focus on the wayfinding design and documentation. We will provide the approved master plan and landscape layout. Full project details shared under NDA with shortlisted candidates. Proposals without evidence of built work or UAE/authority experience are unlikely to be shortlisted.
Design of Entry Experience sign at a roundabout as part of the scope.
