World War I & II Game Art

Job ID: 38797567

Budget: $250 – $750 CAD

We are looking for a talented artist to help us bring to life a World War I and World War II themed miniature wargame. The game would be split into two sections, with an artist being able to choose to work on either the World War I or World War II sections. This project will initially involve cover art of one or both of the games, but will branch out into at least 2-4 other pieces of art for use on our website and promotional materials. Depending on how well the game is received, we may request additional art pieces every year.

Potential artists are encouraged to negotiate a fair timeline for completion of their side of the project. We understand that art can take time, and you may have additional projects on your plate that need to be finished first.

Artists can negotiate their own prices for the work. We would be willing to pay up to 30% of the project up front, 30% after the initial draft, and the remaining 40% upon completion of the work. We would be happy to work with our selected artist(s) on any further terms or contracts at any part in the hiring stage. If the project continues, artists can re-negotiate payment for each new piece of art.

We would like the art to adhere closely to historical realism, taking inspiration from real World War I & II imagery. We can provide contextual photos if needed during the design process, however, an artist familiar with British, Canadian, German, and Italian uniforms, weapons, and/or tanks from either war would have a great advantage during hiring. The game does not include planes or ships from either war.

The initial cover art would have a focus on battle scenes, with the additional art pieces in the future focusing on specific subjects such as a tank or a factory line. Again, the artist responding to this post can choose not to continue producing additional art pieces should they choose.

The primary medium for the artwork would ideally be digital, however, traditional mediums would still be accepted should the artist be able to transfer them into a digital file.

During the hiring process, artists must submit a sample of their work; whether that be a link to an online portfolio or a particular piece that showcases their abilities. The project centralizes on a realistic style. Therefore, experience in creating realistic artwork is highly desirable.
