Surrealism / Optical illusion T-Shirt Illustration
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Background
I work in Air Traffic Control, and I am part of a labor union known as NATCA. The following is the best I can describe all the aspect of our job that I would like to be illustrated in a surrealism style of art. The Optical illusion part of the shirt would be that all these described things make up the NATCA letters, so they stand out.
Purpose
The Art is going to be used for a ‘shirt design’ so an appropriate format and/or software would be required.
Illustration concept
So, the First thing that catches one's eye (presumable largest thing) would be the five letters NATCA (in all caps). I would like the illustration to have someone talking to an airplane... It could be someone talking to an airplane using a handset – head set or again in a surreal nature they could be literally talking to an aircraft in an assertive manner if that emotion can be portrayed.... either way the controller would need to look fatigued…. entirely fatigued like he just ran the longest race of his life and has nothing left… but he must continue. I’d like the illustration to have airplanes flying in the sky turning to the “final approach course” or simply put turning to line up with the runway however I would like it to appear that the planes are on strings much like the political puppet drawings. In addition to that, I would like plane(s) to be departing from the runway also and the illustration to depict a never-ending slew of airplanes. In my mind that would look like airplane(s) departing the runway and as this trail of airplanes is leaving the same planes leaving are the planes coming back so it looks like a big never-ending loop. The planes being controlled by strings would also look like puppets or in other words may look like what a toy airplane might look like if it was flying through the sky on strings. The Sun in the sky would initially look like a sun but at second glance it is also an Eye (the great eye in the sky watching everyone). Parachuters would be jumping from the sky and horses would be depicted in the illustration. Parachutes because we work with parachuters and Horses because out facility is in Kentucky and KY Derby is a huge event and more commonly the horse market is just huge in Kentucky. But in a surreal sense it could be parachuters jumping from one of the airplanes and jumping for the horses below. Aviation is very orderly and timely so additional things that would ideally be illustrated would be “keepers of time” also for some humor if you could add an “air Marshaller” which is always the meme of what people think an “air traffic controller” is.
