Supernatural horror/weird fiction Digital Illustration / Scene from a short story

Supernatural Horror/weird fiction. (so it must have dark undertones)

The art will be used along with my short story on my website. It has to be unsettling but not gory.
The scene:
This 16th century town has been maddened with a bloodlust they must see this man hang for the murder he committed. Other invisible entities might have a hand in this Dark clouds seem to have descended down to touch the actual town. Today he hangs but does he know something everyone else doesn't? Why is he smirking when he's about to be translated into eternity?
What I need shown in your illustration:
Setting is A gibbet/wooden hanging gallows is on a hill about a mile or so from the small town. A man standing on the hanging platform with the noose placed on him.This Character is wearing a shirtand trousers which have seen better days because he has been imprisoned last few weeks.
Character has long loose dark hair obscuring his face but MUST be shown SMIRKING or about to smile.
In the background are multiple adults rough number is max of 30 people (but you don't have to show them this is just to get an idea what I'm talking about) watching the hanging eagerly as its the first execution in that little village.
No buildings around though this hanging is taking place outside the town on some grassy plains.
Actually maybe show a 16th centuryesque small town in the background of everything with a dark mass of dark (mist or clouds) as if reaching down to touch the village in the distance.
Extra stuffyou could add to fill out the scene is maybe show two men 16th century European types looking directly at our "about to hang" subject.

Our character ABOUT to hang with a noose hanging down from the gallows.
Character has long black hair kind of covering his face BUT HE IS SHOWN SMIRKING
Background has the village but more importantly Dark clouds/mist reaching down almost touching the small town (Supernatural element The Clouds are very much alive)
Anything else I mentioned should guide you and your creativity.
While I have used a long description I'm also looking for something affordable as this image simply will be used in conjunction with a short story rather than a actual book.
It will be presented on the website as the illustration to the short story so I'm not prepared to pay my life savings on it.
