Scar Tissue Graphic Novel

Job ID: 34387530

Budget: £250 – £750 GBP

My literary agent recommended that I create a graphic novel from my screenplay, as a potentially successful work in it's own right. It's a redemptive, inspirational dramatic story dealing with the issues surrounding the notorious Canadian indigenous residential school system. I wrote it basically as a way to shine a light on the human story of the atrocious treatment of indigenous people in Canada, as I'd never heard of these abuses until I came to work there. I'm hoping for a collaboration with an indigenous Canadian graphic artist ideally, although a graphic artist passionate and sensitive about the issues in the story would work. I've pasted the logline and synopsis of the story below,

LOGLINE
A mentally and physically scarred native Canadian prize fighter must relive and face his traumatic residential school past in the ring.

SHORT SYNOPSIS
Haunted by his experiences in the infamous residential school system for native Canadian children, Harry, a jaded, worn down prizefighter, wanders from town to town, in denial of his past and native identity. But when Laura, a kind native Doctor tries to help him, his old wounds start to open. Then, when forced by gangsters into a brutal illegal prizefight, Harry finds he must at last relive and face his harrowing past in the ring.
