Quirky Cartoon Illustrations For 6x Craft Beer Can Labels

Job ID: 30949126

Budget: $10 – $100 AUD

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to read this!

We're looking for a talented and creative cartoonist to do some illustrations we can use on can designs for a new Australian craft beer company, 'Newport Brewery'.

We are a small Graphic Design / Illustrator duo who would normally handle this ourselves, but this time we're looking for a specific art style and some fresh ideas.

It's important that you're not just talented, but have a good sense of humour, are excited by the ideas below and are creative enough to come up with full compositions with little input.

At this point, we'd be happy with the full composition just as sketches (hand-drawn or in a rough state), that we'll then recreate and refine your drawings in vector and add colour ourselves. We'll also handle the lettering, logo placement, other graphic element, mockups etc.

Of course, if you feel you have what it takes to do the whole thing end-to-end, we're open to it - however we think we can get the best result by collaborating together.

The first 6 illustrations we require will be for a 6 pack 'tester' with 4 beers and 2 mixes called a "Fisherman's Basket" and designed to appeal to 18-40 year old laid-back fishermen and hipsters.

Please see the logo design and branding mockup attached.

The 6 cans will be themed with a different popular creatures familiar to Australian fishermen. Names not final:

1. Bullshark "Bully" - Alcoholic Ginger Beer
2. Stonefish "Stoney" - Spiced Rum & Ginger Ale
3. Mudcrab "Muddies" - Dark Ale
4. Barramundi "Barra" - Crisp Beer
5. Toadfish "Toady" - Fruity Beer like Stone & Wood
6. Whiting "Killer Whiting" - Low Carb Sugar Free Beer

We are using the illustration style and composition of the beers from https://stillfirebrewing.com/beer-details as inspiration.

We are thinking of having a main character/mascot of a cool 'Aussie-Hipster' Kangaroo. He may sometimes be paired with a big, tough-looking Koala mate the way the Raccoon of Still Fire is paired with a Bear sometimes.

We want the illustrations to be quirky, crazy and intricately detailed so that every time you look at the can, there's something new to discover (little easter eggs and funny details).

There's no specific deadline or concrete budget at this stage, we just need regular progress with fast turn around on small revisions if necessary.

If this goes well, we are also planning an Australian Myths themed 6 pack (including Drop Bears, Yowie, Hoop Snakes, Wolf Creek's Mick Taylor and others)

Thank you for your time and consideration. If possible, please provide portfolio examples that are similar in style to the Still Fire example.

Thanks again,

Ryan

P.S. Google is your friend for some of the Aussie terms above, however you have specific questions or need clarification on anything, please don't hesitate to ask in your proposal.
