SPARK. “Spark of life” — the enthusiasm to live for the sake of living
Humans don’t have a predetermined path and you don’t to have some big objective that you need to achieve. Life is about finding your sparks, moments. You don’t necessarily have to have a job that completely fulfills you, the perfect picket-fence house, the perfect life, the one ‘true’ identity. Rather you should focus on those moments and parts of who you are that make up pieces of your identity and that make life feel like it is truly worth living. Life is a collection of these moments or ‘sparks’.
These moments could simply be the pleasure of sunshine or a warm hug from a loved. The joy a family brings to one another, the connections you make with the communities that keep you safe, the multitude of career paths one may chose and each moment of success and failure it brings about. Appreciate the beauty of what life is and realise your identity cannot be simply defined by a singular moment. Your story and identity sprawls into thousands of complex and beautiful pieces.
I’ve lost, grieved, fought and loved. I sink deeply in my thoughts as I lay underwater whilst the sun pierces through. I wake peacefully through the gentle morning breeze and smile. I fill with bliss as I move through a stage. I break down barriers and find small pockets of joy in the chaos. This is enough, I am enough. These are moments that have shaped my identity and they are the things that make life worth living.
One Sentence Intention: To remove the pressures of finding your one true purpose and boxing your identity, highlighting that you and your life is made of moments that make it worth living.
The concept video starts out in the dark similar to a void. It follows the journey of the protagonist to discovering themselves and their ‘purpose’. At this point the video needs to show the struggles of boxing your life into one purpose, one label, one identity, the chaos and pressure that comes with this. Slowly the dancer needs to find individual moments , seconds of clarity, ‘colours’ in the void, that pull them towards a clearer path of what makes them human and what make life worth living. As it progresses they realize that life is made of ‘sparks’-moments, and they begin to find their identity, the void starts to disappear the chaos settles, and the dancer is content. This is the point where the video transitions to colours as each ‘Spark’ is discovered. The resolution is very ethereal and spirited, leaving the viewers feeling at peace and empowered. The dancers could represent the chaos and struggle surrounding the protagonist’s journey.
