Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Comic Book Illustrator to bring our 22-page digital comic to life. Please see attached for full details.
Although it’s a 22-page project, only 16 pages are actual story panels. The additional 6 pages include:
• Front Cover (main artwork supplied)
• Inside Front Cover
• 1 Full Splash Page (Main artwork supplied)
• Movie Info Page
• Inside Back Cover (movie stills provided)
• Back Cover
We have a detailed script and panel breakdown ready, which you can review in full before starting.
Style
This is an action comic/story, so we’re looking for a family friendly action comic style like Marvel, or DC. Open to any styles that serve this story.
Scope of Work
1. Outline & Panel Layout (First Week)
o Provide rough thumbnails or layouts for all 16 story pages + cover layouts.
o We will give feedback and request revisions if necessary to ensure the visual flow serves the story.
2. Final Artwork (Second and Third Week)
o Complete line art, inking, coloring, and lettering.
o Integrate any final revisions.
o Deliver high-resolution files suitable for digital online publication
3. Milestones & Payment
o 10% deposit upon project start.
o 20% upon delivery of line drawing drafts and layout.
o 70% upon final delivery of fully completed pages (all 22 pages).
4. Timeframe
o We are aiming for a total of 3 weeks:
Week 1: Outline & layout drafts.
Weeks 2–3: Final art.
o We understand some flexibility may be needed, but please ensure you can commit to this general schedule.
5. Communication
o We operate on Melbourne (Australia) time, Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm.
o You may send questions or updates anytime, but please note we typically respond within those business hours.
o English fluency is essential—we need clear, professional communication.
6. Sample Test Requirement
o Before official hire, we require a small sample (partial page) to demonstrate your style, coloring, and storytelling approach.
o This should be delivered ASAP once we shortlist you, so we can confirm the style is a good fit.
7. Additional Details
o Existing branding, references, and partial artwork (for the splash page) will be supplied via a Dropbox link.
o You may be asked to explain or revise panel choices if they don’t serve the story’s flow.
Deliverables
- Complete market ready 22-page comic file in PDF (300DPI and 72DPI)
- Also supply individual pages in PNG
- Artist does not own any rights to the completed project, but will be credited so please supply preferred Artist name.
- Please provide file project file in case of any changes needed in future.
What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience illustrating comics, with portfolio samples of sequential art.
• Ability to capture emotion and tension in panels (the story tackles both uplifting and intense moments).
• Strong storytelling skills: panel transitions, layout, pacing, etc.
• Ability to communicate promptly and accept feedback or revisions.
• Open to ongoing projects
