Clean up an old drawing to get vector clear lines

This job is about cleaning up / remastering an ancient drawing to make it vectorized and ready to print.
The original drawing's lines are a bit faded, with splotches of painting directly applied over the clear line.
We need to extract the clear line, to end up with a clean black and white drawing (minus the colored paint / no scales of gray, only the black line drawing the character, so other colors can be added afterwards).
If satisfactory there are other images to clean up in the exact same way.
