Wall Bracing & Heat Loss Analysis
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m getting ready to build a new home and need someone to run two key sets of calculations before we move any further:
• Wall bracing strength – confirm that the framing layout in my current basic plans meets code for lateral loads and recommend any extra sheets, hold-downs, or fastener schedules if it falls short.
• Heat loss analysis – estimate the overall heat loss for the house so I can size HVAC and insulation properly, highlighting the main thermal bridges and offering straightforward improvement options.
I already have a set of basic floor plans and elevations (PDF and DWG) that you can build on; no topo survey or soil report is required for this task. A concise report or annotated spreadsheet with your formulas, assumptions, and code references will be enough at this stage—think of it as an initial check before we commission the full engineering package.
Please let me know what software you prefer (e.g., HAP, EnergyPlus, REScheck, or your own spreadsheet for heat loss; structural software or hand calcs for bracing) and how quickly you can turn around the calculations.
