HVAC Sheet-Metal Takeoff Estimator
Budget: $10 – $25 CAD
I am preparing an upgrade/retrofit package for an industrial facility and need an accurate material take-off for the entire HVAC sheet-metal scope. The construction drawings (PDF, scaled) outline new and replacement duct runs plus associated mechanical piping; your task is to translate those plans into a clear bill of materials that purchasing can act on immediately.
The estimate must cover the three material groups flagged in the brief—ductwork sheets, pipe fittings, and elbows & fittings—showing sizes, gauges, linear footage or square footage, and total weights where relevant. I work in Excel, so the final schedule should arrive in a structured spreadsheet with line-item subtotals and a concise summary tab.
Drawings will be provided once we agree on workflow. Familiarity with take-off software such as Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, Trimble or similar will help you move quickly, but manual quantification is acceptable as long as the numbers reconcile.
Deliverables
• One Excel workbook containing:
– Itemised take-off for ductwork sheets, pipe fittings, elbows & fittings
– Gauge/diameter, quantity, area or length, and weight per line item
– Summary tab with aggregated totals for each material group
• A brief methodology note (one paragraph) confirming how counts were derived and any assumptions made.
