We are an early-stage deep-tech startup based in Chennai, India, looking to build a complete HR system from scratch, aligned with Indian labor laws (Tamil Nadu + Central) and tailored to a high-performance startup environment.

Currently, we have around 17 team members (full-time employees and interns) and are transitioning from an informal structure to a well-defined, scalable HR system.

We are NOT looking for generic HR templates.

We need someone who can understand our working style and design a practical, enforceable HR framework that balances:

Flexibility (startup culture)
Accountability (work must get done)
Legal compliance (India-specific)
Simplicity (easy to implement immediately)

SCOPE OF WORK

The freelancer will be responsible for designing and structuring the following:

1. HR Policy Framework
Working hours & attendance policy
Leave policy (CL, SL, comp-off, etc.)
Late working / late login rules
Weekly off & holiday policy
Work-from-office expectations
Employee accountability (daily/weekly reporting structure)
2. Employment Documentation
Offer Letter (clean, legally aligned, startup-friendly)
Appointment Letter / Employment Agreement
NDA + Intellectual Property (IP) protection structure
Internship Agreement (clear distinction from employees)
Consultant/Freelancer Agreement (if required)
3. Compliance Alignment (India Focus)
Tamil Nadu Shops & Establishment alignment
Leave & working hour compliance
Basic payroll structure guidance (PT, LWF, TDS awareness)
Comp-off vs overtime structuring (startup-friendly approach)
POSH policy requirement guidance (we have >10 employees)
4. Practical Implementation Guidance
How to roll out policies internally
How to communicate changes to team
Basic HR tracking setup (attendance, leave, etc.)
Simple and scalable structure (no heavy HR tools required initially)
