For this assessment it is required that you compile a research proposal.
Indicative structure:
Introduction/ Purpose of the Study (20 marks)
o What are the major questions to be addressed by the study
o What are the primary (and secondary) objectives of the study (stated as objectives)
o If the dissertation has a hypothesis, what are they and provide an explanation of each.
Literature review (35 marks)
o This may be the grounds for concern that initiated the research topic selection or the importance of the problem being addressed. It is important that the project has value that can be explained. Appropriate literature should be included in this section and referenced throughout.
Overview of Research Approach/Proposed Methodology (25 marks)
o Outline the proposed approach that will be taken to undertake the research – e.g. quantitative study and how this will be done, survey and how this is to be conducted etc., in-depth interviews: how many, who, why these people chosen. Provide a rationale for the research approach and referenced throughout.
Limitations and Project Risks (5 marks)
o Identify any potential limitations to the study. Ethics.
o How do you intend to manage ethical issues relating to anonymity, confidentiality and any subsequent use of the data.
Dissertation timeline (5 marks)
o Include a provisional and realistic work time line for the project. The time line should include the following stages:
Project scoping
Literature review
Research methodology design
Data collection
Data analysis
Report writing
Writing, formatting, references (10 marks)
