Subtitle Formatting Assistant for Language Learning Stories
Budget: €750 – €1,500 EUR
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and linguistically curious assistant to help format subtitles for short, story-based language learning videos. This is a recurring role for someone who enjoys structured tasks and working with languages—even without being fluent.
You’ll work with pre-timed subtitle files (.srt) and German translations to create clear, bilingual subtitles for immersive learning. The work is repetitive but requires creativity in applying consistent formatting and highlighting key language chunks using simple HTML tags (e.g., <b>).
✅ No translation required
✅ No need to adjust timing
✅ Just insert, align, and format
✅ Ongoing work as new content is created
About the Project:
The subtitles support a storytelling-based language course by Sprachheld, a platform for independent language learners in the German-speaking world. Each course includes 30 short stories (1–3 minutes each), designed for audio-based learning with bilingual subtitles.
We Provide:
• Original subtitle files (.srt) in Italian, Spanish, French, or English
• Matching German translations
• Pre-marked “language chunks” to emphasize
• Clear instructions and templates
Your Role:
• Open and work with .srt subtitle files
• Insert German translations line-by-line, aligned with timestamps
• Highlight key phrases using simple HTML formatting (<b>)
• Maintain existing subtitle structure and timing
• Deliver clean, ready-to-use .srt files
Ideal Candidate:
• Comfortable with repetitive yet detail-focused tasks
• Familiar with how .srt files work (or willing to learn quickly)
• Has a basic understanding of language structure (fluency not required)
• Able to use AI or automation tools to streamline the process
• Highly organized and consistent in formatting
Bonus: Experience with subtitle editing tools or scripts, and an interest in language learning.
This is a long-term collaboration opportunity with steady, manageable work as we publish new course materials.
