PDF Catalog Generator for Music Center
Budget: €250 – €750 EUR
I. About Music Center:
Music Center S.r.l. is an Italian company based in Trento, specializing in the design, production, and distribution of high-quality accessories for woodwind instruments, particularly pads for clarinets, saxophones, and other woodwinds. II. Task overview:
We are seeking a freelancer to automate the generation of our product catalog in PDF format, based on an Excel file and a PDF file containing the full product portfolio, descriptions, and pricing logic.
We currently have a STATIC catalog in PDF (around 100 pages) that is updated manually. It includes:
- Product codes
- Descriptions and technical specifications
- Multiple price points based on diameter/thickness ranges and product models
- Multiple material variants
Moreover, we have different pricing based on different price versions: EUR1, EUR3 (discounted), USD1,.... and so on.
We want to automatically generate this PDF in the exact same layout (matching the current catalog visually) to print and send to our customers, but now AUTOMATICALLY POPULATED with prices and other information dynamically calculated from an Excel file. We should also be able to choose which price versions to display in the PDF (for example, display EUR1 price or USD1 price).
This catalog will be used to help our customers navigate our total product portfolio more effectively.
III. Project goal:
- Build a system to recreate the current catalog design (based on our current PDF layout)
- Dynamically populate it with data from Excel
- Automatically apply price version logic (for example, EUR1 × 0.7 = EUR2; or price conversion to USD/JPY)
- Generate multiple versions (EUR1, EUR3, USD1) with identical layout but updated pricing
We should be able to reuse the same script/workflow in the future when we update the product file.
IV. Timeline:
Ideally, this project should be completed within less than 1 month.
V. Technology & skill requirements:
We are looking for a freelancer with experience in one or more of the following areas:
=> Essential skills:
- HTML/CSS templating to recreate document layout
- PDF generation tools
- Python scripting (especially using pandas for Excel parsing)
- Understanding of price formatting, Excel reading, and currency conversion logic
- Good design skills
- Ideally experience with document layout or publishing automation
=> We will provide you with:
- An Excel master file with product information and price logic
- Current PDF catalog as reference for design matching
- Style expectations (fonts, spacing, layout zones)
- Any information that arises
