Help with redirects after form submission

I need a bit of help implementing a form that submits data to an external API; the form redirects to the API as the action is set to it - then the user sees plain JSON on the external page with response (success, failure, etc).

I want the user to be redirected to my own page that states the response in plain terms.

Just need some help getting there!
