Does HIPAA apply to a business that I'm starting?

I'm starting a business as a nutrition coach and I need to know whether HIPAA applies to my business and if it does, how can I meet the requirements. In working with clients, they would inform me of medical conditions. Does this alone determine whether HIPAA applies?
