Health Optimization Research Assistant

Job ID: 40112264

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly driven personal assistant or project manager to conduct in‑depth research on health topics, with a focus on actionable, evidence‑based insights. This role blends rigorous research, clear synthesis, and proactive coordination to design and optimize practical experiments around sleep, supplements, energy, and overall wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
- Research high‑quality, science‑based information on supplements, sleep and insomnia, energy, metabolic health, stress, and related areas using clinical, academic, and practitioner sources.
- Synthesize findings into concise memos that include pros/cons, levels of evidence, safety considerations, and step‑by‑step implementation options.
- Connect disparate ideas into coherent project plans, helping to “put the pieces together” across multiple experiments or protocols.
- Track open questions, propose next steps, and maintain simple systems (docs, spreadsheets, checklists) to ensure nothing important is dropped.
- Communicate regularly via structured written updates, flagging risks, tradeoffs, and decision points without waiting to be asked.

Required Qualities
- Problem solving & resourcefulness: You find answers even when they’re not obvious, compare multiple sources, think several steps ahead, and design creative ways to validate ideas.
- Initiative & motivation: You consistently take the next intelligent action without needing prompts, and you volunteer useful lines of inquiry or project ideas.
- Systems thinking: You connect research across sleep, supplements, lifestyle, and psychology into integrated, testable approaches rather than isolated tips.
- Communication: You write clearly and precisely, with structured notes, bullet points, and logical recommendations. You are direct, professional, and able to raise concerns respectfully.
- Health knowledge: Strong research skills (literature searches, evaluating source quality, summarizing evidence for non‑experts) and demonstrated interest in healthcare, integrative/functional medicine, psychology, physiology, or nutrition.

Topic Familiarity
- Sleep and insomnia (sleep hygiene, CBT‑I, circadian rhythm, medications, supplements).
- Supplements (safety, dosing ranges, interactions, quality considerations).
- Energy, fatigue, stress, and related factors (blood sugar, hormones, lifestyle design).

Cultural Fit
This project is best suited to someone personally fascinated by health optimization and motivated to turn knowledge into real‑world change for a single, high‑engagement client. Curiosity, integrity, and long‑term thinking are essential, as is comfort working closely with a founder who values autonomy, candor, and speed.

Application Instructions
Please submit:
1. A brief background (no CV needed at this stage) highlighting your most relevant research or health‑related experience.
2. 1–2 concrete examples demonstrating problem solving, resourcefulness, and ability to connect disparate pieces into a coherent recommendation.
3. A short section (300–400 words) explaining:
- Why this project is highly appealing to you.
- What personal characteristics make you a strong cultural fit (values, working style, curiosity, relationship to health).
- How you stay current on health information, and how you distinguish strong evidence from weak or misleading claims.

Note: Applications that do not address the cultural‑fit questions in depth will not be considered, as alignment on motivation and mindset is critical for this role.
