CHCDIV002 | Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Safety Project
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
Project: you are asked to ‘design’ a cultural safety framework for a health service.
· Please choose a type of general health service eg: Community Health Service, MPHS or small hospital in a specific region or town – eg Community Health Service in Wagga or Cootamundra or in Riverina area.
· You need a type of service as this will affect how Aboriginal & Torres Strait clients will interact with the service.
· You need a location to get some demographic data on the size and population of the town and the number of ATSI individuals living there or serviced by your chosen health service.
· This is general information doesn’t have to be a particular existing service, it is a general framework.
· You then answer the different questions given in the scaffold. Reference any sources used.
· This is like writing a pretend ‘policy’ for how this service will work towards ensuring it providing culturally safe services to their ATSI clients. The aim is to get you to think about what we should be doing, how we should be engaging local Aboriginal communities, how we communicate, how we present services to ensure that Aboriginal people feel safe, seen and heard.
