Smileys for our upcoming game, meeting requirements

We need 10 created-from-scratch smileys. They are for our upcoming game, that has a pixel art aesthetic. The default dimensions for each smiley are 20x20 pixels. In-game, they will reside in 32x32 areas, slightly off-center, starting at 7x5 from the top left. The extra space in that 32x32 area, around the 20x20 pixels, may be used if a smiley is given a prop, such as a hat or beard. Unused areas should be transparent. The smileys should look slightly to the right (or left). We can flip the image depending on which direction the player is moving. The game also allows for the left-looking and right-looking images to be different, so it is allowed to make them slightly different (e.g. if the same eye should keep an eye-patch), but this is not mandatory. As the artist, you may decide what kind of smileys they will be, so long as they are family-friendly. A template with very basic example images attached.
