Develop a midcentury-modern, vase-shaped sourdough starter jar that is not only visually appealing in a midcentury-modern way and easy to clean, but also highly functional for the fermentation of sourdough starter. The design should ergonomically facilitate the starter's rise while incorporating unique features for ventilation, height tracking and ease of use.
Design Objectives:
1. Aesthetic and Shape:
* Create a vase-shaped jar (wider mouth) that reflects midcentury-modern design principles, focusing on clean lines, organic forms, and an overall minimalist appeal. Think Urban Outfitters Home.
* The jar should be aesthetically pleasing enough to be a decorative element in any kitchen.
2. Ventilation System:
* Top Design:
* Incorporate a screen with small holes designed to prevent the entry of insects and microbes while allowing necessary airflow for fermentation. This is the bottom top piece.
* Design an aerated piece with larger holes on top of the screen to enhance ventilation, ensuring optimal conditions for the sourdough starter.
* Ensure that both components are easy to detach for cleaning.
3. Hinge Mechanism:
* The aerated piece should be connected to the jar via a durable hinge, allowing for effortless access to the starter.
* The design should ensure smooth operation, facilitating easy opening and closing.
