Illustrator for Children's Educational Adventure Series
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
Looking for a freelance illustrator/designer for a children’s educational adventure book series OF 3 BOOKS for ages 7–10 years. This is not a “make it cute” brief. The goal is to create artwork that feels real enough to earn a child’s trust while remaining exciting enough to hold attention across an entire book. Illustrations should balance adventure and education, helping children stay emotionally engaged while naturally absorbing the learning content. Characters must be built from observation, not templates. Every face, posture, gesture, and expression should feel original, intentional, and emotionally authentic. Avoid generic stock-style visuals, repetitive poses, clip-art aesthetics, or formulaic character design. Artwork should feel grounded and believable. Environments, proportions, lighting, and interactions should create immersion rather than exaggerated cartoon abstraction. Strong visual storytelling is essential. Composition, movement, pacing, and color should create curiosity and anticipation — the feeling that makes a child want to turn the next page. Children quickly notice when artwork feels rushed or emotionally empty. The illustrations should respect the intelligence of young readers through detail, atmosphere, and thoughtful storytelling. All artwork must be 100% human-made. No AI-generated illustrations, AI-assisted image generation, tracing, or template-based work will be accepted. Freelancer should understand Amazon KDP publishing requirements, including: Proper bleed setup Margins and trim safety Gutter spacing Print-ready formatting High-resolution export standards Consistency across spreads/pages The ideal candidate should also be able to suggest improvements related to: Book dimensions and sizing Layout and readability Visual pacing Publishing optimization and print quality Please Share: Relevant portfolio work Examples of multi-page storytelling or children’s books Experience with educational/adventure-based content Confirmation that all work is fully human-created Estimated pricing and timeline
