I am seeking a skilled Illustrator and Formatter to work on 7 individual children's books aimed at kids under 5 years old. The project involves creating engaging, full-colour illustrations and preparing the books for both print and eBook formats on Amazon KDP.
Scope of Work:
1. Illustration (Per Book):
- Interior Pages: 7–10 full-colour pages (plus Title Page) with text incorporated into the artwork.
- Title Page Illustration: Full-colour title illustration with the book's specific title.
- Book Cover (Front & Back): Full-colour cover artwork designed as a single spread for print wrap.
- Character Style Guide: Final approved look of Ziggy (French Bulldog) and Zulu (Ragdoll cat).
Style Requirements:
- 2D traditional cartoon style similar to "Pig the Pug" books.
- Characters must be distinct, emotive, and appealing to children under 5.
- Backgrounds should be detailed but not overly cluttered.
2. Formatting for Amazon KDP (Per Book):
- Print-Ready (Paperback): High-resolution PDF with correct bleed, margins, and gutter for KDP printing.
- eBook (Kindle): Fixed-layout file (.kpf or ePub) ensuring images and text remain in place.
- Cover Wrap Setup: Adding spine, back matter, and barcode space to the Illustrator's cover spread.
Core Tasks:
- Layout design and placement of text on illustrations.
- Setting up files with defined trim sizes (e.g., 8.5" x 8.5").
- Quality checks to ensure files pass KDP Previewer checks.
Rights & Usage:
- Work-for-hire agreement preferred, granting full, exclusive commercial rights for all illustrations and formatted files.
