Graphic Designer for small Music Publisher Brand Identity
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I'm starting a small music publishing company focused on serving community groups, churches, schools, and theatres. I'm in need of a creative graphic designer to help craft a cohesive, professional, and community-friendly brand identity.
Key deliverables include:
- A company logo
- Social media banner(s)
- Business card design
- Email signature
- Song cover graphic (for online store & YouTube)
- A simple visual backdrop for displaying lyrics during song previews
Here are my thoughts:
LOGO:
I like this green and purple color scheme:
My thought for the logo is a Treble Clef
For the logo, I envision a stylized treble clef where the vertical line and the bottom circle are widened and colored purple. The company name, “David Josh Aaron Music,” would be placed vertically along this section—either reading upward or downward, depending on what looks best—using white text for contrast.
The remaining curvy portion of the clef would be in green, creating a two-tone effect. In terms of layering, the purple element would be the base, the green section layered on top, and the white text on the very top to ensure it remains legible and unobstructed. I envision the treble clef ending up short and wide as the green section will need to be widened to accommodate the wider vertical line.
This is just my initial concept, and I’m absolutely open to creative interpretations or other ideas that might enhance the overall design.
BANNER:
I’d like the banner to feature both the green and purple colors as part of the background. These colors can be divided horizontally, vertically, diagonally, or blended with a blurred fade—whichever layout looks best visually.
The background should also include the watermarks described in the “backdrop” graphic section (see below).
The banner will need a space to feature the company logo. Rather than placing it inside a box or circle with clean edges, I imagine it appearing in an area that looks like the background has been “wiped away” —allowing the logo to stand out, since it uses the same green and purple tones and may not be fully visible if placed directly on the colored background.
The banner will also include the following text:
David Joshua Aaron Music
Community – Churches – Schools - Theatres
I envision a white font outlined in a thin black line so the text stands out against the two tone background.
This is just my initial concept, and I’m absolutely open to creative interpretations or other ideas that might enhance the overall design.
START GRAPHIC
This graphic will appear at the beginning of each song on the YouTube channel and will also be used as the visual for each song in the online store, so it should be sized at 8½ x 11 inches. Or, do we need two versions one portrait for the online store and once landscape for the youtube channel?
Here’s the layout I envision:
• Top Banner: A green strip, approximately 1 to 1.5 inches tall, positioned about ¼ inch from the top and sides. This section will display the name of the collection the song is from. I’ll need to be able to update this text, as there are multiple collections. The background should include the watermarks described in the “backdrop” graphic section below. I envision a black text against the green.
• Middle Section: The center of the page should feature the song title and composer’s name. This text also needs to be editable, as each song will be different.
• Bottom Banner: A purple strip that mirrors the top banner in size and placement, positioned near the bottom of the page. This section will display the name of the series within the collection. Like the others, this text should be changeable, since there will be many series. I envision a white fonts against the purple.
• Logo: The company logo should appear somewhere on the graphic—wherever it looks best within the design. I’m flexible on placement as long as it complements the overall layout.
This is just my initial concept, and I’m absolutely open to creative interpretations or other ideas that might enhance the overall design.
BACKDROP GRAPHIC
This graphic will serve as the background for the lyrics displayed on the YouTube channel as the song samples play. It should be formatted as a letter-sized landscape page (8½ x 11 inches).
I will need two versions of this graphic: one in green and one in purple.
The background should be textured with watermarks—lighter shades of the respective background color—using the following words individually:
David – Joshua – Aaron – Music
These words should be scattered separately across the page rather than grouped together, to avoid creating lines or visual clutter. The goal is to add subtle texture without distracting from the lyrics.
There should also be a “wiped away” area somewhere unobtrusive (such as a corner or the bottom center) for the company logo. This area must not be in the middle of the page, as it would interfere with the visibility of the lyrics.
This is just my initial concept, and I’m absolutely open to creative interpretations or other ideas that might enhance the overall design.
I’m trying to think ahead of all that will be needed but there may be additional pieces needed once I begin to put everything together. If you foresee something else that will be needed please let me know.
My web address is DavidJoshuaAaronMusic.com – This will be forwarded to my section of an existing online sheet music store.
Please let me know if this project is of interest to you, what your rates are and what additional information you would need from me.
I hope to establish a long-term relationship with a designer who will continue to work with me as the company grows.
Best regards,
Josh Aaron
