Job Summary:
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented School Textbook Designer to join our team on a freelance basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in graphic design, a passion for creating educational materials, and the ability to develop engaging and user-friendly textbook layouts. This role involves working closely with educators, content writers, and other designers to produce high-quality textbooks for students of various grade levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Layout and Design: Create visually appealing and structured layouts for textbook content, ensuring clarity and ease of use.
Illustrations and Graphics: Design or source educational illustrations, charts, diagrams, and other graphics that enhance the learning experience.
Typography: Choose appropriate fonts and styles to improve readability and ensure consistency throughout the book.
Cover Design: Develop creative and attractive covers that are aligned with the subject and age group of the textbook.
Collaboration: Work with writers, editors, and educators to understand the educational objectives and tailor designs accordingly.
Feedback and Revisions: Incorporate feedback from the project team to make revisions and improvements to the designs.
Print-Ready Files: Prepare final designs that are ready for printing, adhering to technical specifications and industry standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
Experience: Proven experience in textbook or educational material design is a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or other graphic design tools.
Creativity: Strong creative skills with a keen eye for aesthetics and details.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with the team.
Project Management: Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with educational publishing or school curriculum design.
Familiarity with different educational levels (K-12) and their design needs.
