We are seeking a creative Graphic Designer to be part of a design team in executing our illustrated novel.
The graphic designer will work collaboratively with existing illustrations and text, including cover design, interior book production, and related promotional resources—incorporating fresh ideas.

Basic plot: The book is an illustrated novel.

Structure: The book has 13 chapters. It's an "art book" with original artwork/illustrations on almost every page. Sometimes the text is broken down as if into poetry, sometimes we treat words as graphic elements on the page.
Word count: around 25000 words
Page count: 140 pages.


Our ideal candidate will be:
• Creative and collaborative: Work with the writer and illustrator team to understand creative intent and determine how to best meet the illustrated novel’s needs such as design layout, typography and touch up of original illustration scans
• Create and execute concept design to final production ready files
• Detail-oriented: Someone who loves to dig into the weeds of a design project and make sure everything is thought out and harmonious
• A clear communicator and great listener who can both give and respond thoughtfully to feedback
• Self-driven and organized
• A genuine team member with a positive attitude

Basic Qualifications:
• Book design experience
• Proven talent in creating innovative book design, appreciation of typography, layout, composition, and color
• Solid computer design skills: proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Excellent project management skills
• Broad knowledge of print production

Preferred Qualifications:

• Related work experience
• Expert in Adobe Creative Suite 

Required Education

• BA / BS in related field (design, arts, or graphic design)
