Custom AOSP Smartphone OS Development

Job ID: 40498117

Budget: ₹12,500 – ₹37,500 INR

I’m preparing a new handset for market and need a full Android build created on top of AOSP that feels uniquely ours. The brief is ambitious yet clear:

• Look & Feel – I have brand guidelines ready and want a fresh UI/UX layered over AOSP. Animations, iconography and system-wide theming should reflect the hardware’s minimalist industrial design.

• Security – The device will target privacy-conscious users, so I need hardened SELinux policies, verified boot, and an encrypted out-of-box experience. Any additional hardening you can recommend is welcome.

• Out-of-the-box Experience – A curated set of pre-installed apps (I’ll supply APKs and signing keys) must be baked into the image and remain system-level to prevent removal.

Hardware target
The phone uses custom internals, not an off-the-shelf reference board. You’ll receive a full spec sheet with chipset, radio stack and sensor list; expect a Qualcomm platform with custom secure elements that must work flawlessly from first boot.

Proprietary services
We run our own cloud sync and account system. The OS has to call these services in place of Google equivalents for backup, messaging and OTA delivery. SDKs and endpoints will be provided.

Core deliverables
• Compilable AOSP fork in Git (properly structured branches and commit history).
• Flashable images for engineering and production builds.
• OTA update pipeline tied to our proprietary service.
• Documentation covering build environment, bring-up steps, and security changes.
• Two milestone builds: alpha (hardware bring-up) and beta (feature-complete).

Acceptance will be based on successful boot, passing CTS for mandated components, and clean integration of our account service without breakages.

If you’ve taken at least one board from bring-up to launch and are comfortable deep inside the Android framework, I’d love to see your approach and timeline.
