Community Magazine Layout Design
Budget: £18 – £36 GBP
We are reviewing production of Church & Village News (CVN), a monthly magazine that serves 7 parishes in North Norfolk. The magazine is focused on community news, features, a local events diary, public information and advertising. A team of local volunteers provides most of the content and until recently this included lay-out. It is now being laid out by the printers, but this had increased costs and reduced the print options available.
The layout involves fitting content into a well-established design which can be viewed at https://churchandvillagenews.org.uk. A number of pages would be largely unchanged and, once set up, the monthly layout would be straightforward.
Key considerations:
Cost - the magazine is run by volunteers and depends upon local advertising and contributions. Recent cost pressures on local businesses resulted in pressure on advertising.
Good communication - a good working relationship with the editors.
Reliability - a key feature of CVN is its 'what's on' information for the month ahead. Distribution has to be before the start of each month (There is no January edition). Meeting deadlines is therefore essential.
