Cartoon Animal Illustrations Needed
Budget: $250 – $750 CAD
I’m putting together a children’s picture book that follows a cast of lovable animal characters through both indoor and outdoor moments—think cozy bedroom story-times that spill into sunny backyard adventures. The visual tone I have in mind is light, colourful and unmistakably cartoonish, with simple shapes, expressive faces and plenty of warmth that will resonate with early readers.
Here’s what I need from you: full-colour illustrations that can stand alone as single pages or easily spread across a two-page layout. I will supply the manuscript and page-by-page art notes once we connect, but expect a mix of interior scenes (bedrooms, kitchens, classroom nooks) and exterior settings (gardens, parks, treehouses). The animal protagonists should remain on-model from scene to scene; consistency in line weight, palette and proportions is important so the book feels cohesive.
Files should be delivered digitally in high-resolution RGB (minimum 300 dpi) suitable for print and eBook conversion; layered PSD or vector formats are preferred so any last-minute text placement tweaks are painless. If you use Procreate, Illustrator, or Photoshop, just keep the layers tidy and named.
Before we kick off the full batch, I’d like to approve one finished sample illustration based on a page of my choosing. Once that style is locked, we can move through the rest of the images together, sharing progress through rough sketches and colour proofs. Clear communication and punctual check-ins are key for us to stay on schedule for print preparation.
If you have a portfolio of cartoon animal artwork—especially anything that shows both interior and exterior storytelling—please send it my way. I’m excited to see how your playful style can bring these scenes to life.
