Artistic Tech Diagram Project
Budget: £300 – £500 GBP
Tell me about yourself and your art. May I request examples of any of your doodling, stippling, hatching/cross-hatching, architectural, diagrammatic or perspective illustrations please.
Introduce to me the illustrations you created yourself, as an individual. Will you be available to contribute an illustration of my diagram using doodling, stippling, hatching/cross-hatching, architectural, diagrammatic or perspective sketching?
Are you personally comfortable with following instructions like these which follow? Are you able to be left alone with these instructions? There is a lot of step-by-step reading to do, plus a little writing.
Thinking about the subject matter of the diagram, not so much your talent, on a scale of 1 to 10, how familiar are you with the software engineering industry? Do you know what the point of design patterns are? Not the patterns of graphic design, but for software programming: what’s the point of them? Not to worry, you need not be a programmer.
Observe the attached rough sketch of the diagram. Observe the job document.
Read the following milestone proposals briefly
Milestone 1: Planning (20% of total fee)
1. Observe the guide and drafts. Google subject of programming design patterns.
2. Google the two missing design patterns: Specification Pattern; Repository Pattern.
3. Write brief word document on what you will draw under each pattern, including the two missing patterns: Specification and Repository.
4. List the verbs, nouns, metaphors and synonyms you will add under the specification and repository patterns.
5. List what words you plan to include or exclude from your illustration. Several words are needed under each design pattern as synonyms and metaphors. Verbs go above subjects. Nouns go below subjects. I just need a simple list documented.
6. Suggest a simple illustration for each pattern; some illustrations are already drafted. Just state this, no drawing needed yet.
7. Suggest a central illustration for the middle of the diagram. It should emphasize the idea around design patterns overall.
8. Give me a copy of your documented plan.
Milestone 2: Draft sketch with headings (40% of total fee)
1. Draft the headings. Each illustration requires a heading. The heading is the name of the design pattern. The heading must have space for colouring in, or be in colour according to the legend in the guide.
2. Sketch or outline into Adobe Illustrator, or Photoshop, all of the illustrations within the circular layout demonstrated. Each illustration must provide space for 5-10 synonyms/metaphors, I.E. words. Leave a space at one of the corners of the diagram for the legend.
3. Do a rough sketch of the final illustration in the middle of the diagram.
4. Add shadows and tones to each sketch so that their illustrations can be visualized from a distance.
5. Give me a copy of A0 or A1 sized draft to me, 300 dpi.
Milestone 3: Refine, colour, finalise
1. Colour code each of the words as per the job document’s instructions. Add each colour code into a legend on your diagram illustration: state what the colours represent (as I did).
2. Complete the illustration at the centre of the diagram.
3. Refine the illustrations so that geometry and shadows can be easily picked up by the observing eye.
4. Add any of your finishing touches
5. Present the final Adobe Illustration, PDF or Photoshop file to me. 300 dpi for any raster images.
State your offer, indicate the recommended drawing style and any information needed from me.
You should be an individual illustrator able to plan, sketch and render a digital diagram as per a supplied draft sketch. You may delivery the result as an Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop A0 or A1 illustration. I’d need 300 dpi for any rasterised illustration.
Full colour is required, but you may choose to only colour the text if you need more time to focus on the tones, and to stick within my budget. Text may be any font or style deemed coherent.
I will await proposals from individuals with drawing skills and answers to the aforementioned questions.
