Add Punctuation to TTF Font
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I have a TrueType font I use regularly, but it’s missing several punctuation marks I need for my website. All new glyphs must be Latin-based punctuation only, and they have to blend seamlessly with the look, weight, and metrics of the existing characters—no visible difference once they sit alongside the current glyph set.
The font recreates the print image from an IBM 1403 mainframe printer. I estimate about 20 characters need to be added. The attached picture shows current characters in the font. As you can see, any character that is not fuzzy has no corresponding character in the TTF. The are ! ^ & ( ) _ { [ } ] : " < > ? | / \
The forward slash / shows as a sucked in box. Don't know the name for it. It needs to be changed to the /
You’ll open the original TTF, design the required punctuation, apply proper spacing and kerning, and then recompile the file so it works in modern browsers. Source compatibility matters, so please preserve the naming table and existing OpenType features.
Deliverables:
• Updated TTF with the added punctuation
• Editable source file (FontLab, Glyphs, or FontForge)
• Quick visual proof sheet showing old vs. new glyphs in common text strings
One revision round is fine. If you’ve handled similar font expansions before and can keep the style absolutely coherent, I’d love to work with you.
