Tribal Energy Master Planning
Budget: $3,000 – $5,000 USD
Covenant solar plans to support 4 tribes in the submission of proposals to the BIA EMDP program this fall. The grants will be written in a coordinated approach using the same general strategy. Our team will coordinate communication with the tribes. Your role will be to quarterback the collection of written materials and requirements for submission. Preference will be given to those with experience and relationships with indigenous communities.
Covenant Solar Initiative (CSI) is an indigenous-led nonprofit organization focused on harnessing the power of renewable energy as a means towards the restoration of self determination in American Indian communities. CSI was founded in 2016 in response to the inspiring leadership of American Indian tribes in resisting fossil fuels and the growing desire to realize the regenerative potential of renewable energy on tribal lands.
Mission: CSI’s mission is to empower American Indian tribes to transform their energy systems in a way that promotes long-term economic development and restores self sufficiency. Our approach is to grow the capacity of tribal leaders and organizations to plan, develop, and maintain renewable energy resources. Our long-term vision is the achievement of energy independence by American Indian tribes. After many years working with Native American leaders to deploy solar demonstration projects in their communities, CSI is now supporting multiple American Indian tribes in their efforts to develop energy master plans and strategic energy projects that will lead to the realization of our shared vision.
