Boost Website Speed & Scores (WP)

Improve page load speed across desktop and mobile by addressing key performance issues flagged in an SEO audit. The goal is to:

Reduce overall page size (currently ~10MB)

Improve Google PageSpeed Insights score from 58/100 to 85+

Lower page load time from 2s to under 1.5s

Optimise mobile performance (currently slowed by render-blocking resources and large images)

Scope of Work

1. Image Optimisation

Compress and properly size all oversized images on key pages (esp. /gorge-walking-wales/).

Convert images to next-gen formats (WebP/AVIF) where supported.

Implement lazy loading for offscreen images.

Rename long/non-informative filenames where possible (SEO friendly, hyphens not underscores).

2. CSS & JavaScript Optimisation

Minify and combine CSS/JS files where possible.

Eliminate render-blocking resources (esp. Elementor, jQuery, Google Fonts, plugin styles).

Implement deferring / async loading for non-critical scripts (YouTube embeds, Google Tag Manager, TrustIndex loader, etc.).

Reduce JavaScript execution time (currently ~1.5–2.2s).

3. Caching & Compression

Enable GZIP/Brotli text compression.

Review and set efficient cache policies for static assets (CSS, JS, images).

Ensure browser caching is configured for third-party resources (TripAdvisor, TrustIndex, etc.).

4. Page & DOM Optimisation

Reduce excessive DOM size (currently 750+ elements).

Remove unnecessary plugin bloat (audit active plugins).

Optimise Elementor output if possible (e.g. fewer nested divs).

5. Mobile-Specific Fixes

Address render-blocking CSS/JS on mobile (audit shows 10+ seconds wasted).

Ensure responsive images load correctly at smaller breakpoints.


Deliverables

Optimised site with measurable improvements in PageSpeed Insights (desktop & mobile) and GTmetrix.

A short post-implementation report showing:

Before/after scores

Load time improvements

List of changes made


Notes

Core SEO structure/content must not be affected.

Website functionality (bookings, forms, Elementor design) must remain intact.

If premium plugins/tools are recommended (e.g. WP Rocket, Imagify, ShortPixel), please include this in the quote as optional.
