SketchUp Paddleboard & Kayak Rack Plans
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I have sketched out a covered storage rack that will protect several water-craft on my property, and I now need a SketchUp specialist to turn the concept into fully buildable construction documents.
Core brief
• Footprint: roughly 8 ft deep × 15 ft wide × 8 ft tall (walkunder hight about 6-6.5 ft)
• Layout: open side entry, no perimeter walls
• Structure: pressure-treated 4 × 4 posts on deck blocks at the four corners and beneath the central beam and roof to be peaked with lightweight rafters supporting corrugated metal/plastic panels
• Central beam: 2 × 6 running the full 15 ft span; rack arms will bolt to posts supporting this beam
• Remaining framing: 2 × 4 framing members; 1 × 6 boards on ends to provide partial pivacy
• Capacity: must safely accommodate stand-up paddleboards, sit-on-top kayaks, and sea kayaks
• Look & feel: clean, modern lines—
What I need from you
1. A detailed, dimensioned SketchUp model (.skp) that a carpenter can interrogate for every cut.
2. Exported construction drawings—plan, elevations, key sections, and connection details—as printable PDFs.
3. A concise cut list / materials schedule generated from the model so I can price lumber and hardware.
Acceptance criteria
• All structural members correctly sized and positioned per the dimensions above.
• Connection details (through-bolts, screws, hangers, etc.) clearly shown or annotated.
• Clear separation of components in layers/tags so edits and take-offs are straightforward.
• Model opens error-free in the current SketchUp Pro release.
If you have experience modeling timber structures or outdoor storage solutions, this should be a straightforward job; I simply need precision beyond my rough concept. Please include a link or screenshot of a past SketchUp project that showcases similar detailing when you respond, and let me know your estimated turnaround time.
