Modern Home Extension Concepts
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I need fresh, modern design ideas for extending my current house. The aim is to gain additional living space—specifically a new lounge room, a master bedroom with walk-in robe and ensuite, plus an extra bedroom.
i have attached a picture of the existing layout, and a picture of a rough sketch of the extension area, just looking for ideas and design ideas for the best layout,
the exisiting bedroom 4 will be removed, and the bathroom made bigger to fit the laundry where the bed 4 is aswell as bathroom,
Bed 3 will move the entry door and remove the WC to be apart of that bedroom, Bed 1 will become a Theatre/rumpus room with double door opening,
Everything must read as one coherent, contemporary addition that ties naturally into the existing structure while maximising light and indoor-outdoor flow.
To move forward confidently with my local builder, I’m looking for concept-level material that includes:
• Two or more scaled floor-plan options showing circulation, furniture zones and service runs
• Simplified elevations or sections that clarify roof lines, ceiling heights and façade treatment
• A few perspective renders or SketchUp/Revit views that capture massing, glazing and finish ideas
Clean lines, minimal ornamentation and smart use of glass are essential; think streamlined modern rather than rustic or classic. Energy-efficient orientation, cross-ventilation and cost-effective construction methods will also be appreciated.
Please outline the software you’ll use and share examples of comparable residential work so I can gauge style compatibility. I’ll provide quick feedback on sketches, ensuring we converge on a concept that is both inspiring and buildable.
