Depth Maps for Laser-Cut Borders

Budget: $30 – $250 AUD

I have a series of simple SketchUp card models and want precise depth maps so my laser cutter can machine a clean border in brass. The first model is ready for you; just let me know which export works best—SketchUp (.skp), .obj, .stl, etc.—and I’ll send it straight over.

Deliverable
• One high-contrast PNG depth map for each card, sized to the model’s footprint, with black-to-white encoding to drive the laser’s Z-depth.
• The border should feature geometric motifs built from triangles and other polygons; no curves or rounded shapes this time.
• Output resolution high enough to avoid banding when etched on brass stock.

Workflow & flexibility
I’ve mocked up an initial design but will want to tweak depth levels or pattern density after I review the first cut, so please keep your Blender/Fusion/SketchUp file hierarchy editable. Clear layer naming will speed revisions.

Acceptance
A sample render showing how the depth map wraps the card plus the PNG itself. Once the sample slices cleanly on my laser (I’ll run a quick brass test), we’ll move on to the remaining cards the same way.
